No homework required. These workshops are designed to be ‘introductory’ or ‘level 1’, however some needlework skills will be an advantage. The three-day tambour beading workshop is for those wishing to gain a higher level of competency.
Places are very limited; booking is essential.
If you are interested in higher level courses, please let us know.
All workshops include a suitable embroidery frame, a generous pack of materials, and an instruction book – so you have more than enough to complete your work. There will also be additional materials for purchase. Morning and afternoon tea are also provided.
Please note: Workshop fees are non-refundable and do not include your lunch (please bring your own or purchase nearby) and parking. *GST is included but Eventbrite fees are applied when booking.
Workshops begin at 10am prompt. We recommend arriving at 9:30am to register and settle yourself (but not earlier!). There will be a one hour lunch break and we conclude the day at 4:30pm.

In July 2017, Maker & Smith was founded by Mary Ellen Cliff and Carola Akindele-Obe. Their primary objective was to fulfil their strong desire to elevate the professional craft industry in Western Australia. Maker & Smith operates on a volunteer basis and aims for self-sustainability without compromising standards. We rely on partnerships and pay fair fees to skilled artisans and designer-makers who participate in our programs.
Maker & Smith respectfully acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we live and work, including the Whadjuk, Pibelman, and Minang peoples of the Noongar nation. We recognise the importance of their culture and the ongoing contribution they make to the life of this region. We also recognise the significance of the Uluru Statement from the Heart, which calls for constitutional recognition and the establishment of a First Nations Voice enshrined in the Constitution.
Always was, always will be.
