TERMS & CONDITIONS 

ENROLMENTS

Full payment must be made upon booking. Places cannot be held without payment. No pro-rata payments are permitted if the participant cannot attend all days of a class.

Classes are recommended for age 16 years and above. See the skill level in the description for each class.

CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS

  • 100% refund up to 10 days prior to the class or event. You must notify Maker & Smith 10 days or more prior to the start of the class or event that you are unable to attend.
  • 50% refund 3-9 days prior to the class or event. You must notify Maker & Smith 3 days or more prior to the start of the class or event that you are unable to attend. 
  • 0% refund if you cancel less than 3 days prior to the class or event or fail to show up.
    You may transfer the place to a friend. Please contact us before the class or event to arrange the name change.

When Maker & Smith makes a change

You are entitled to a full refund when:

  • A class or event is cancelled by Maker & Smith.
  • A class or event is rescheduled by Maker & Smith, and you are unable to attend on the new date.

Cancellations due to COVID-19

Notify us immediately if you cannot attend a class or event due to having to isolate or are ill with COVID-19. Full refunds will only be made on supply of a medical certificate. We are reasonable people and will negotiate fair terms.

If COVID-19 impacts the presentation of a workshop, we will notify you of the postponed dates, and will negotiate fair terms. If Maker & Smith has to cancel a workshop a full refund will be made and reasonable advance notice will be given.

CONCESSIONS AND DISCOUNTS

Subject to each class or event. We do not usually offer concessions or discounts. Occasionally we offer scholarship places.

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

Participants must comply with our COVID Safety Plan and that of the host venue.

TICKET PRICES

Tickets include GST. If bookings are made through a branded portal such as Eventbrite, ticketing fees also apply.

WHAT TIME DO CLASSES START?

Please arrive at 9:30am for registration, and to give yourself adequate time to bring in your equipment and to settle. (Please don’t arrive before 9:30am). Classes begin at 10am. There will be a one-hour lunch break, plus a 15 minute afternoon tea break. Classes conclude at 4pm each day.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

A song in your heart and an eagerness to learn! Please refer to your class descriptions as to materials and equipment; some are provided. Morning and afternoon tea is provided, but please bring your own lunch or you can purchase it nearby.

WHAT ARE THE TRANSPORT & PARKING OPTIONS?

  • Midland Junction Arts Centre is a 10 minute walk (750m) from Midland Train Station.
    Free parking is available at Midland Gate shopping centre next to the Arts Centre.
  • WA Maritime Museum is a 10 minute walk (800m) from Fremantle Train Station.
    Paid all day parking is available at Wilson Parking – Victoria Quay Zone 4 which is located at Peter Hughes Drive, Victoria Quay, Fremantle. All Day Parking valid Monday to Thursday only. Paid Parking from 8am to 8pm.  Free Parking from 8pm – 8am. Friday to Sunday 4 hr Maximum only permitted in this Zone. Download the Wilson Parking App to easily pay for your parking directly from your phone. 
  • Bicycle: there are bicycle hire outlets in Fremantle and with some accommodation. Cycle pathways are reasonably good in and towards Fremantle.

IS THE VENUE ACCESSIBLE?

Yes, we endeavour to always present our classes at accessible venues. Contact us or the venue if you have any queries.

CAN I TAKE PHOTOS?

Yes, you can take phone photos during the workshops, but if you publish or post to social media you must credit the class tutor, Maker & Smith and our venue partner (e.g. Midland Junction Arts Centre, Camelot, Bukeshla or WA Maritime Museum).

By enrolling in a class you automatically give permission to be photographed. Photos may be used by Maker & Smith for promotional purposes. If you’d prefer not to permit, please advise the Maker & Smith representative at the event.

WHAT ARE THE COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS?

We will operate according to the Western Australian guidelines at the time. The workshop takes place in a large, ventilated room to provide plenty of space for physical distancing; hand sanitiser will be on hand and please bring your own mask, if you feel the need to wear one. We ask that you do not attend if you are ill and, if this is the case, we will negotiate fair and reasonable terms.
