Emma Lashmar is a visual artist from Perth who loves the dynamic and volatile qualities of molten glass. When working in the hot-shop, Emma likes to play with the possibilities and quirks of the medium, allowing the process to shape each unique form. She finds the process of making the work meditative, appreciating the flow and flux of the fluid material and being responsive to its varying states.
Trained in Visual Art at Curtin University, Emma transferred to Melbourne’s Monash University to focus on Fine Arts (Glass), graduating with honours in 2009. Over the next ten years, she exhibited widely in solo and group shows in public and commercial galleries and artist-run spaces in Melbourne and Sydney, and had work purchased for notable private collections in Victoria and New South Wales. Emma also undertook residencies and professional development in Scotland, Argentina & Germany. She has also been commissioned for projects to create bespoke lighting and tableware designs for iconic Australian restaurants Vue de Monde, Penfolds Magill Estate and Tedesca Osteria, among others. Emma relishes the challenge of working on bespoke projects for private and public spaces.
Having lived interstate and overseas for a decade, Emma reignited her professional practice in Perth with studio residencies at PICA, Paper Mountain, Vancouver Arts Centre and ArtsHouse, Bassendean.
