Danica Wichtermann is a ceramic artist based in the Perth Hills, who is inspired by the nature she lives amongst and loves so dearly- the Great Australian Bush.
Her work starts its humble beginning on the pottery wheel. Over time, mounds of porcelain clay evolve to become a canvas for her illustrations and stylised designs. These are carved into the surface, or imprinted with found elements from nature, then inlayed with glaze to bring colour and different surface qualities to the work.
Danica’s work is handmade, and artist made, created in Western Australia in her home studio. Her works are known for capturing a unique essence of our stunning and diverse flora and fauna. They are treasured for their timeless aesthetic and made to last.
Danica completed her formal education studying a Diploma of Education and a BA in Fine Arts at Curtin University. She is a high school teacher and operates her own studio – ‘Rediscover Ceramics’, where she conducts workshops, private tuition and master classes.
Danica has won multiple awards for her work, participates in numerous exhibitions, and is represented by multiple galleries and private and public collections across Australia and abroad.
Danica is available for commissions, talks and workshops.
